Falmouth Classics and the Sea Shanty Festival 2024

Falmouth will be getting all nautical from 14th – 16th June 2024 as two of the town’s most anticipated events combine for a feast of ocean themed festivities.

Out on the water, Falmouth Classics features three days of racing and parades of classic boats., It’s a must for all sailors, plus anyone for a taste of history. Since it began, in 1987, the event has steadily grown to be one of the largest Classic sailing meetups in the UK. Falmouth’s geography offers a host of great spots to watch the action unfold, both around the harbour and out through the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay from vantage points across Pendennis Point and the town’s oceanfront.

For those wanting to tuck into some sailing culture, but less inclined to get wet feet, the Classics are hosted at the same time as Falmouth’s International Sea Shanty Festival. Falmouth has long been a port of call for salty sailors, and the pubs around the harbour have long bounced to the sounds of sea shanties. The festival celebrates this culture and then some with free performance around the town all over the weekend. Sounds like a perfect day for a waterside stroll (or pub crawl) accompanied by some fantastic traditional music. To get a sense of the scope of the event you can check out this great interactive map here. For the real enthusiasts there’s also a gala event on Saturday 18th at Princess Pavilion.

So, to all you landlubbers and salty sea dogs out there, for a fun filled weekend of sea themed celebrations, set sail for Falmouth this June!
